IBG Models 1/700 HMS Hotspur 1941 (70009)

This time we are going to talk about IBG Models 1/700 HMS Hotspur 1941 (70009). As you can guess from the name, this set copies WW2 British Destroyer in small scale. Nevertheless, Polish manufacturer doesn't skip on details, so you can expect a lot of features out of the box. Previous releases looked good, so that's why I decided to take a closer look at this one.
By the way, here you can read review with Slazak kit.

We are going to start with the first frame, which carries lower section of the hull. Note also small lifeboats molded as one-piece parts.

All other parts come on three additional frames. It is good to see deck panels as single-piece elements. Molding quality looks fine.

Don't be surprised by the parts count - there are more of them on unpainted PE fret. Those will require special tools from you as otherwise it will be tricky to get them in the right spot. Decals look good and include flags. Assembly manual is typical for this brand, and I show all pages in the video-review.

New release should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to build British destroyer in the small scale. Moreover, I am glad to see PE parts included, as those will give you even more impressive appearance. The only thing required from you is the careful assembly, so think twice before going into such small scale build. Some of the parts will definitely require installation with special tools. :)

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • PE fret included
  • Good decals

Cons

  • PE parts might be tricky for some modelers
