Eduard 1/72 Avia S-199 Erla Canopy (70152)

Today we are going to take a look at Eduard 1/72 Avia S-199 Erla Canopy (70152). This kit comes as yet another version of the Czech aircraft in small scale. As you can notice, new boxing offers us a chance to build Erla canopy version. Moreover, model comes as Profipack, so there are all necessary things for a nice project. Packaging is typical for Eduard, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another aircraft in the same scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to wing parts. As you can see, overall design is classic for this section - two top panels and one lower part. External features include recessed panel lines and rivets.

Next sprue is a bit more loaded with parts. Here you will find some of the cockpit elements as well as propeller and landing gear parts.

Both fuselage halves are supplied on the last sprue. Parts division is classic, so I would recommend to be careful in the nose area. External features look as good as what we saw on the wing.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Overall molding quality looks great, and you can see masks on the photo below.

Prepainted PE fret will be handy for the cockpit in your model. Nevertheless, some parts will also go for external features on your aircraft.

Two decals sheets are printed in Eduard, so you don't have to worry about possible quality issues. All markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New release should be already available, so it is a perfect chance to build a small model of quite unusual aircraft. Moreover, I like the fact that it comes as Profipack, and you will get all the necessary things together with plastic. Yes, there are also original accessories available, but those will require extra investment, and not all modelers are ready for that. Keep in mind that 1/72 scale makes whole build really tiny, so this is definitely not the right thing for modelers with bad eyesight.
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals
  • PE and masks included

Cons

  • Small scale might be tricky for some modelers
