Arma Hobby 1/72 Ki-84 Hayate (70052)

This article is dedicated to Arma Hobby 1/72 Ki-84 Hayate (70052). Kit comes as the new boxing of the famous Japanese fighter aircraft in the small scale. We reviewed the initial release before, and you will find the link below. Nevertheless, new version offers us a chance to get the nice plastic for even more affordable price, but without masks or PE. Well, there are some modelers who will be fine with such exchange, so let's open the box and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with previous release of Hayate.

There are two grey sprues in the kit. Here you can see the biggest one which carries almost all the main parts.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin and rudder. External features include recessed panel lines and rivets. All this looks great for 1/72 scale.

Arma Hobby also didn't skip on internal details here. There are guiding pins as well, which should come handy during assembly.

Second frame comes with tailwings and bombs. Note that elevators are molded in.

Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, and you can open the cockpit. Today's boxing doesn't feature masks sheet though.

Decals sheet comes from Techmod, so you don't have to worry about the quality. Moreover, manufacturer included some cockpit decals here. You can see two markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New version of Ki-84 should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is still a nice choice for modelers who are ready to work with small scale kits. Moreover, whole kit can be considered as the great example of what can be achieved with modern molding technologies. The only thing required from you - careful assembly. :)

Pros

  • Great molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Nice decals

Cons

  • Some modelers would prefer the bigger scale :D
