This article is dedicated to Eduard 1/48 MiG-21SMT Weekend Edition (84180). New kit comes as yet another version of the well-known plastic. I think aircraft also doesn't need an extra introduction, but note that whole set is made in 1/48 scale. This is a Weekend Edition release, and there are no additional bonuses in the box, only decals for four markings. Packaging is typical for this brand, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Limited Edition MiG kit.

This frame is supplied in two pieces. As you can notice, here we will get various external equipment and not all of those items will be used in the build.
More parts for missiles and bombs come on the separate frame. It is nice to have all those things out of the box.
Next we see tail fin halves. There are guiding pins inside, so it should be easy to assemble these parts together.
Those two parts are fuselage halves with some other panels on the same frame. Both are quite large, so be careful while joining them together.
Cockpit, engine nozzle and main wheel wells should be assembled as separate blocks and inserted between fuselage halves. Don't forget that some of those can be upgraded with Brassin.
Kit features a lot of small parts, so don't be fooled by 1/48 scale only. This version of the kit has nose cone installed before closing the fuselage, and you will have to mask it somehow.
Wing parts should be glued out of several panels. Mechanization is molded separately.
Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks included as we are checking Weekend Edition kit.
Kit features two decals sheets, both are printed in Eduard. It is interesting to note that the biggest one is dedicated to stencils.
Second sheet carries main symbols and some cockpit decals. You can see all four markings on the photo below.
Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.
New model should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to build the famous jet fighter without spending more on accessories in the box. Moreover, it might be a good base for some sophisticated project, where you will choose what should be upgraded. Note that whole kit is not a beginners' delight, so it is better to start such build with some experience behind your back.
