Zvezda 1/48 Il-2 Shturmovik (4826)

This review will tell you more about Zvezda 1/48 Il-2 Shturmovik (4826). Kit comes as something we expected and offers us a chance to build two-seater version of the famous aircraft. It is still molded in popular scale and might be a good choice even for beginners who would like to build something big. Packaging is typical, all frames come sealed in plastic bags. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with the previous version in the same scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

We are going to start with the first sprue which carries fuselage halves. Both are molded together with tail fin, but rudder is separate. Note also pilot figurine in the center of the sprue.

Wing should be glued out of separate panels, but flaps are molded in. External features include recessed panel lines and rivets.

One-piece propeller should be easy to separate off the sprue. Here we also get another pilot and some minor parts for external features.

Engine also comes as standard bonus. You can expose it by removing the top cowling cover.

Last grey plastic sprue is packed with parts. Here you will find landing gear parts as well as some cockpit elements. I recommend to replace wheels with resin accessory from Eduard.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks included here.

Decals sheet features all necessary symbols with stencils. Printing quality looks fine and you can check painted model on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New aircraft comes as expected version of the famous Soviet aircraft. In my opinion it can be a credible alternative to the offer from Tamiya. In one box you will get a decent plastic which should look fine even in the standard build. Don't forget that it is possible to enhance some features with the help of aftermarket from Eduard. The only thing that will be must-have here - masks set, so that you can get a nice paintwork without extra effort.
THANK YOU FOR DONATIONS WHICH MADE THIS REVIEW POSSIBLE!

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Great decals

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
