Eduard 1/48 F6F-5 Weekend (84181)

Today's review is dedicated to Eduard 1/48 F6F-5 Weekend (84181). As you can guess, this is a new boxing of the famous plastic kit from Czech model manufacturer. It comes in popular scale and therefore might be an interesting option for those who would like to work on WW2 aircraft. Packaging is typical, note that model comes as Weekend Edition, so price should be a bit more accessible. Let's open this box and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Limited Edition Zero kit.

First frame features engine parts together with some landing gear elements. Note also two types of the dashboard - plain one might be handy for decals or PE upgrade.

Separate sprue carries missiles. Those are molded as single-piece parts with separate tail sections.

Tailwings should be glued out of two halves. Elevators are separate as well as rudder. Here you can also see cockpit floor in the right bottom corner.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin. Cowling should be glued out of two halves.

As you can notice on the previous photo, wing should be inserted into special slots. This is clever and simple design, just be sure to test fit parts.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality is great, but there are no masks included in this kit as we deal with Weekend Edition.

Decals sheets come in the separate bag too. Both are printed in Eduard, so you don't have to worry about printing quality. All four markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In one box you will get a nice plastic with good choice of markings. Moreover, let's not forget about original accessories which can be purchased separately. In my opinion even the standard out-of-the-box build should be good-looking project. I can also recommend this model as a nice choice for beginners who want to try something good. :)
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Great decals with cockpit decals

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
