ICM 1/48 "Jig Dog" JD-1D Invader (48287)

Today we are going to talk about ICM 1/48 "Jig Dog" JD-1D Invader (48287). New version copies drone tugging aircraft and based on the previous twin-engine Invader releases. This is still a big kit which would impress with its dimensions. There are 208 parts for assembly of model with 448mm wingspan. Packaging is typical for this brand, all frames come in one bag. Let's open them and check together.
By the way, here you can read review with B-26 kit.

We are going to start with large sprue which carries wing halves and engine gondolas. Note that wing mechanization is separate here.

Nose sections are molded as single-piece and this is really good.

Note that each engine gondola will have to pack 100g (!!!) of weight to avoid tail sitter.

Next we see some of the cockpit parts, fuselage panels and landing gear wheels. I would recommend to get a resin replacement for wheels as it will be noticeable on such big project.

Two wing halves and tail fairings come on the next sprue. Note also large support struts which should hold both sides of the wing.

Last grey frame is dedicated to fuselage panels. Note that bomb bay doors should be closed, but ICM offers an option with retracted landing gear.

Clear parts are packed into separate bags in order to avoid possible scratches. Molding quality looks great and there is a masks template in the manual.

Decals sheet features all necessary symbols for two markings. Assembly manual is typical for ICM and you can check all pages in the video-review.

Today's aircraft should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this is a great choice for modelers who would like to replicate such big type in a popular scale. Keep in mind that it will require certain skills, so I won't recommend to start this project without previous experience. Moreover, there are several things that can be easily upgraded for even better appearance. I would advice to invest into such upgrades if you want to get more impressive appearance.
