Zvezda 1/72 M4A2(75) Sherman (5063)

This time we are going to talk about Zvezda 1/72 M4A2(75) Sherman (5063). As you can guess, small tank comes as new release from the famous Russian model brand. While its bigger brother featured quite nice details, it would be interesting to check what is copied in 1/72 release. There are 120 parts which should assemble into model with 9 cm length. Well, with your help, I managed to get one set for the review and now we are going to open it together and take a closer look.
By the way, here you can read review with UAZ in bigger scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

We are going to start with the biggest frame which is literally filled with parts. Here you will find two types of the roadwheels and drivetrain bogies. One of them will go straight into your spare parts box.

Parts design is done in such way so that you won't have to bother with masking them. Clever and easy.

Zvezda supplies lower hull section as one-piece part. Such thing should be easier to work with, so it is a big advantage for every modeler.

Last grey sprue packs other necessary parts for hull and turret. Note that even though hatches are molded separately, you won't be able to assemble them open.

Main barrel comes as single-piece part, what should speed up the assembly process. I like premolded details on the top hull section.

Here you can take a quick look at the rough fitment of the hull parts.

Just like any other small kit from Zvezda, this one features plastic tracks. Be careful while wrapping them around the wheels.

Decals sheet is not big, but carries all necessary symbols for four markings. You can see marking guide on the photo below.

I was quite surprised to see all these markings included. Note also pictures of the finished model on the rear side of the box.

Assembly manual is printed in black-and-white. I show all pages in the video-review.

New Sherman should be already available for purchase. In one box you will get a nice plastic which should be easy to work with. Moreover, this is a snap-fit kit, so it is fine even for complete beginners! I like how the whole model is detailed, so it is just a matter of careful painting and weathering. Yes, various hatches are premolded, but that's the price you pay for kit being easy to assemble without glue.
THANK YOU FOR DONATIONS THAT MADE THIS REVIEW REAL!

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Snap fit assembly
  • Great decals

Cons

  • Plastic tracks might be tricky
  • Molded in hatches
