Eduard 1/48 MiG-21MF Weekend (84177)

Today we are going to talk about Eduard 1/48 MiG-21MF Weekend (84177). This is a new release with quite famous kit from Czech manufacturer. As you can notice, plastic comes in form of Weekend Edition, so there are no additional bonuses, just kit and decals. Some modelers like this form a bit more because they can choose what they will add to their build. Well, packaging is typical here, so let's open the box and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with German aircraft in the same scale.

We are going to start with wing parts. Overall design is typical here, but mechanization is molded separately.

Nose cone is a one-piece part, but it should be installed before closing the fuselage. Moreover, you can replace the cockpit and wheels with some additional accessories from Eduard.

Cockpit and main wheel wells should be glued as separate blocks and then inserted in between fuselage halves. It shouldn't be difficult because there are guiding elements inside.

Keep in mind that fuselage halves are quite big, so it is better to take your time while gluing those together. Air brake can be replicated in open or closed position.

External equipment comes on two identical frames. This is a nice bonus which should come handy for a more realistic model.

Yes, all those small parts should be handy for bombs and missiles on the aircraft.

Last grey sprue carries top extension together with fin halves. Rudder is separate here.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag in order to avoid possible scratches. Molding quality looks great and should be easy to work with.

There are two large decals sheets in the kit. Both are printed in Eduard and look fine. Note that there are also cockpit decals included. You can see all markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New MiG should be already available for purchase. In one box you will get one of the best MiG-21 in 1/48 scale, which should be interesting to assemble. Moreover, markings choice looks great and I am sure you will find something to replicate. You shouldn't forget about huge aftermarket choice from Eduard. These parts will add even more features to the aircraft, but you should be ready to spend more.
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.
