Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind F Mk.I (SH32047)

Today we are going to talk about Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind F Mk.I (SH32047). This is a new release from the well-known Czech brand. Yes, large box brings us completely new plastic which copies twin engine aircraft. This release was on our radars for some time and now we finally have a chance to check everything closer. As you can guess, manufacturer decided to start with the early version, but I can bet that we will see other types in the future. Packaging is typical here, all frames come in one plastic bag. Let's open it and take a closer look together.

Сегодня мы поговорим о новинке от компании Special Hobby. Это полностью новый пластик, который копирует английский двухмоторный самолёт Whirlwind. Мы услышали о нём некоторое время назад и вот, теперь он уже доступен для заказа. Как вы можете догадаться, производитель решил начать с раннего варианта, но наверняка будут и другие. Упаковка здесь типичная, всё закрыто в несколько пакетов. Давайте откроем их и рассмотрим всё поближе.

We are going to start with the first grey sprue which is dedicated to tail surfaces. Note that elevators and rudder come as separate parts.

Each tailwing will have to be glued out of two parts.

Каждый стабилизатор склеивается из половин.

Next frame is dedicated to various external elements. Molding quality looks fine to me.

Следующая рамка отлита с внешними деталями. Качество литья хорошее.

Yes, nose section is molded as single-piece part, so it will be easy to get a nice finish on your model. This is even more important in such big scale.

Да, носовая часть отлита цельной деталью, так будет проще получить аккуратный результат. Это ещё более важно если вспомнить о крупном масштабе.

Next sprue again brings mix of various parts. Here you will find propeller blades, landing gear wheels and bombs.

Следующий литник снова содержит микс деталей. Здесь вы найдёте лопасти винта, колёса шасси и бомбы.

Each wheel should be glued out of two halves, you can also notice weight effect on them. Don't forget that CMK offers resin replacement which is worth installing on such build.

Separate propeller blades will require due care during installation.

Отдельные лопасти потребуют аккуратности при сборке.

All parts which are divided into two halves feature guiding elements inside.

Все детали, которые поделены на половины, имеют направляющие внутри.

Next we continue with various parts for interior. Note that this kit doesn't include engine out of the box.

Далее мы продолжаем с различными деталями для интерьера. Обратите внимание, что двигателя в комплекте нет.

Another sprue brings you cockpit parts and some of wheel wells and radiator elements. Everything looks good and should be easy to separate. On the photos below you can take a closer look at parts.

Ещё один литник даст вам детали для кабины и ниш шасси, а также радиаторы. Всё смотрится аккуратно и должно быть простым в сборке. На фото ниже вы можете рассмотреть всё поближе.

There are only two wing halves. I was surprised to see wing mechanization molded in. External features include recessed panel lines and riveting.

В комплекте только две половины крыла. Меня удивило, что механизация влитая. Внешняя проработка включает внутреннюю расшивку и клёпку.

Inside you will find guiding pins for easier installation.

Внутри есть штифты для простой стыковки.

Of course, engine gondolas are molded separately. They look fine, and I hope that CMK will release a resin engine for this kit. On the photos below you can take a closer look.

Разумеется, мотогондолы отлиты отдельно. Они смотрятся неплохо, но я надеюсь, что мы увидим смоляной двигатель от СМК. На фото ниже вы можете рассмотреть всё поближе.

Last grey plastic frame is dedicated to fuselage halves. Both are molded with tail fin. External features are pretty much the same as on the wing parts.

Крайний серый литник выделен под половины фюзеляжа. Обе отлиты с килём. Внешняя проработка такая же как и на крыле.

Inside you will find guiding elements as well as some features in the cockpit area.

Внутри вы найдёте направляющие и некоторые детали в районе кабины.

Clear frame is molded in a nice quality and packed into separate plastic bag. Note that canopy should be glued out of two halves. There are no masks included into this kit.

Прозрачная рамка отлита в прекрасном качестве и упакована в отдельный пакет. Обратите внимание, что фонарь собирается из двух деталей. В комплекте масок нет.

Decals sheet is printed in Cartograf, so you don't have to worry about quality issues. As usual, I show all pages of the assembly manual in the video-review.

I guess many modelers would be happy to see this aircraft finally available for purchase. Surprisingly, there was no decent kit of this aircraft before, so newcomer is a welcome addition to the big scale sets range from Special Hobby. I wouldn't call it as a beginner's kit, but modelers with some experience would be able to get a decent result out of the box. Moreover, there are various accessories from CMK, and I recommend to check them as well.

Я думаю, что многие моделисты обрадуются сегодняшней новинке. Как ни странно, до нынешнего момента на рынке просто не было толкового набора в 32-ом масштабе. Это отличное пополнение в линейке чешской марки. Я бы не назвал модель подходящей для новичков, но опытные моделисты смогут собрать интересный самолёт. Более того, не забывайте об аксессуарах от СМК.
