Tamiya 1/48 Gloster Meteor F.1 and V-1 (61065)

Today we have a chance to check Tamiya 1/48 Gloster kit with V-1. This is not a new plastic, but it still will be interesting to assemble into nice diorama. Plus review itself is from the older ones which somehow missed their publishing date. Nevertheless, it is still interesting to see what is coming in the box, especially considering the fact that we have combo-set here. Packaging is typical for Tamiya, so let's open it and take a closer look at all features.
By the way, you can read review with big I-153from ICM.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin and rudder. Yes, nose section is also here, so you will have to be careful in this area.

Wing should be glued out of three panels. All mechanization parts are premolded, so you will have to get aftermarket if you would like to have flaps in dropped position.

Note that Meteor will also get simple copies of both engines. Well, this is not an interior kit, so such features should be enough.

V-1 parts have their own separate sprue. Here you will also find the special trolley for display purposes. Note that there is no stand for both aircraft.

Clear frame looks great, and you can open cockpit on your Meteor. Tamiya didn't include masks here, so you will have to buy them separately.

It is nice to see that metal weight is included here as well. Both decals sheets are not that impressive, so if you have a chance to replace them - go for it.

Note that decals also include some cockpit items such as instrument panel and seatbelts.

Marking guide is printed in black-and-white. Assembly manual comes in the same style, and you can check all pages in the video-review.

Today's combo-set looks fine even today. For a reasonable price you will get two models in popular scale. Moreover, there is a huge choice of aftermarket items for both. Of course, it will be an extra investment, but it should be a worthy thing for detailed project. I would be also happy to see some stand to display both aircraft in flight, but it looks like such thing will have to be build by yourself.
THANK YOU FOR DONATIONS WHICH MADE THIS REVIEW POSSIBLE!

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals quality
  • Metal weight included
