Today we have a chance to share with you new build from Scott Withers. Following photos and text provided by Scott himself.

This is my first ever ship and seascape diorama.

I opted for a few upgrades to the base model.

Я решил использовать несколько дополнений для основного набора.

These include: Nautilus Models wood deck kit on the photo above; EZline (heavy, black) rigging, and .5mm wire for the deck gun rope.

В их список вошли деревянная палуба от Nautilus Models (на фото выше), нитка EZline (толстая, чёрная) и 5мм проволока для тросов.

Eduard PE set also helped greatly.

Травление от Eduard также здорово пригодилось.

All other parts are kit-supplied.

Все другие детали были взяты из набора.

Painting:

My U-82 camouflage scheme was inspired by a wonderful model by modeler Karl Pesek.

Окраска:
Кмуфляж для моего U-82 был навеян красивой моделью от Карла Песека.

Model Finishes:

· White for hull/conning tower: 5:1 mix Tamiya flat white xf-2, dk sea grey xf-54.

Версии цветов:
Белый для корпуса/башни: смесь Tamiya матовый белый xf--2 5:1, dk sea gray xf-54.

Gray camo striping: 4:2:1 mix of Tamiya ocean grey xf-82, dk sea grey xf-54, film grey xf-22.

Серые камуфляжные полосы: смесь 4:2:1 Tamiya ocean grey xf-82, dk sea grey xf-54 и film grey xf-22.

· Lower hull: Tamiya dk grey xf-24.

Нижняя часть корпуса: Tamiya dk grey xf-24.

· Hull panel seam demarcation and rust: AIM products 110-3102 grimy black powder (pigment) applied over the paint with small brush.

Полосы панелей и ржавчина: продукт AIM 110-3102 темно-чёрная пудра (пигмент) нанесённый маленькой кистью на краску.

· Hull panel highlights: white pastel powder.

Светлые стороны панелей корпуса: белая пастельная крошка.

· Wood deck staining: thinned AK Streaking Grime base coat, then thinned Testors flat black along edges, then AK Naval series AK 301 dk wash for wood decks for really dark accents.

Везеринг деревянной палубы: разбавленная основа AK Streaking Grime, затем разведённый матовый черный от Testors на гранях, далее последовала смывка для деревянных палуб AK Naval Series AK 301 dk для темных следов.

· Lighter rust areas: AK Light Rust Wash.

Светлые ржавые места: AK Light Rust Wash.

Rigging: black EZline, heavy.

Антенны: черная толстая EZline.

Rigging floats: Tamiya Gunship Grey and Nato Brown.

Резервуары: Tamiya Gunship Grey и Nato Brown.

· Chipping: AK Chipping Color 711.

Царапины: AK Chipping Color 711.

Diorama construction:

This diorama could not have been possible without the incomparable Mr. Chris Flodberg.

Данная диорама не получилась бы без помощи Криса Флодберга.

He is both a consummate modeler and an inspiration.

Он отличный моделист и вдохновитель.

I employed Chris’ methods to the best of my ability and am grateful to have received tips and guidance along the way.

I am very happy with the results!

Diorama dimensions: 46”x10”.

Размеры диорамы: 46х10см.

Conclusion:

I went outside my comfort zone on this and am pleased with the result. It was a first for many things, including first ship and first seascape. I highly encourage fellow shhipbuilders to check out the work of Chris Flodberg for some jaw-dropping inspiration.
