This time I will tell you more about Zvezda 1/72 Tor-M2 (5081). New set comes as a small scale copy of Russian Anti-Aircraft system on tracked chassis. This thing might be a good candidate for solo build or for some kind of diorama. Overall packaging is typical here, and we have boxart showing front view of the vehicle. Inside all parts are sealed into one plastic bag. There are 242 parts which should assemble into a model with 12.4cm length. Let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another 1/72 scale release.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.
First frame is one of the biggest here. Manufacturer placed top hull section together with some side skirts as well. Note also large sections of the tracks.
Top hull panel features some premolded details, but there will be more added with help of separate parts. Just follow instructions and you should be fine.
This frame comes in two as it carries drivetrain parts. Roadwheels are molded together with rubber sections and require careful paintwork or masking.
Turret parts can be found on the next sprue. Note amount of small parts, as you will have to be careful with those during the assembly.
Turret top section is molded as one-piece, and such design should make whole assembly easier. It might be a good idea to find some references, so that you can have a bit more convincing result.
Lower hull section is also molded as one-piece "tub". It means that you get the right alignment out of the box, and only need to add suspension arms.
Rear side of the box also shows finished model. As you can see, camouflaged option might be fun to copy.
Separate ziplock bag brings us white mesh and decals sheet. Overall printing quality on this one is fine, and you get a full number registry too.
Marking guide is printed in color and contains two options. Assembly manual is black-and-white, and you can check all pages in the video-review.
New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for diorama build as small size won't require a lot of work. At the same time it is strange not to see clear parts in this kit for such price. Boxart shows headlamps and windos, but you won't get them in the box. Yes, you can try to replace them with scratchbuilding, but for 30USD I would rather have them included. Overall quality looks fine though, so I doubt that you will have some assembly issues here.
Thank you for your help in getting this kit for the review.Pros
- Nice molding quality
- Clever parts division
- Several assembly options
- Cool decals
Cons
- No clear parts
- Price
