ICM 1/48 Airfield of the Luftwaffe Bomber Group (DS4805)

This review will tell you more about ICM 1/48 Airfield of the Luftwaffe Bomber Group (DS4805). As you can guess from the kit number, we are checking Diorama Set here. It is molded in popular scale and should be a great base for some large scene with aircraft. On the boxart you can notice not only aircraft, but also figures and some bombs. All this can be assembled into an interesting project, so might be worth checking closer. In total there are 324 parts for He 111H-3, 45 parts for seven figures and one dog, and also 352 parts for Luftwaffe airfield equipment. Sounds like quite a package, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another unusual version of He 111.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to wing parts. External features look nice out of the box, and should be fun to pick out with weathering.

Tailwings are molded as two-piece assemblies. Note that all mechanization elements come as separate parts.

Yes, both engines are included out of the box. It might be worth thinking on how to expose at least one of them on the finished model.

Large spars should come handy for supporting both wings. I would recommend metal rod for extra safety. :)

There are a lot of small parts too, so be careful while installing those on your model. Molding quality looks great even on the tiniest ones.

Fuselage halves are molded with tail fins. Rudder is separate as some of the panels. Inside you will find some features as well, what might be handy as it will be visible through clear parts.

This frame is packed separately. Overall quality looks great and should be a great addition to the whole build.

Decals sheet is not big, but you will find stencils and some other symbols. Printing quality looks great, ICM even provides decals for the cockpit, except of seatbelts.

Figurines come on the separate frame. Overall design is slightly different from what we are used to see on 1/35 scale kits.

Various equipment also comes on the separate sprues. Note that ammo boxes should be glued out of separate panels.

Bombs are also here in several versions. Overall design is typical, and some of them might stay for your future projects.

Loading crane comes as part of airfield equipment. For some modelers it might be good to have chain molded out of plastic.

Yes, separate booth is also included. It might be a simple thing, but you can play a bit with weathering.

Stripes are replicated with decals. Printing quality looks nice, but I would recommend to try to paint those with masks. Weapons have their own separate decals sheet.

Assembly manuals are typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Combo-set from ICM should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who don't want to build aircraft only. Instead you will get quite a cool combo which is molded in popular scale. Whole kit is not exactly something I would recommend to beginners, but experienced modelers will definitely get a nice result. Just be sure to add some diorama base as well. :)
