ICM 1/48 Ju 88P-1 Tank Buster (48228)

This review will tell you more about ICM 1/48 Ju 88P-1 Tank Buster (48228). As you can guess from the boxart for this kit, model copies heavy-gunned version of the German twin engine Junkers. We reviewed previous versions, so this time it will be interesting to see what is new for today's type. This is a 75mm gun installed under fuselage. Parts count equals to 198 parts, and assembled model will have 421mm wingspan. Packaging is typical for this brand, so let's open the box and check everything closer.
By the way, here you can read review with C-6 version of the same aircraft.

Each side of the wing should be glued out of two halves. Note that wing mechanization is molded separately.

Small frame comes with machine gun parts. Overall quality looks great out of the box.

Wing mechnization can be found on the separate frame with landing gear parts. I would recommend to think about wiring on legs and engine parts.

ICM also includes both engines for the aircraft. They look fine out of the box, so it might be worth opening one on your build.

Both fuselage halves are molded without tail fairings. External features include recessed panel lines. Be careful with antennas premolded on one of the halves.

This type of propellers will be used for today's version. Overall design looks great as attachment points are placed in right positions.

This sprue is new as it carries parts for P-1 version. Big cannon requires slightly different lower fuselage section and the cannon itself.

Landing gear wheels looks fine out of the box, but I would recommend to get some resin as those are quite large parts. Engine gondola parts have guiding elements inside.

Kit features two clear frames. Both are excellent in molding quality and parts look like a real glass.

This small frame will be useful for cannon installation.

Decals come on one decals sheet. Of course, some of those symbols can be replicated with masks and airbrush, but this will be your choice. You can see two markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New "Tank Buster" should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting choice for modelers who have space and experience for such large build. Moreover, there is plenty of space for additional details, be it with help of scratch-building or some aftermarket. Overall quality looks great, but I can also remind that such big build is definitely not for beginners. :)
