Revell 1/720 HMS Ark Royal (05149)

This time we are going to talk about Revell 1/720 HMS Ark Royal (05149). If you take a careful look at boxart, it is easy to notice that name states two kits which you will get in the box. They are also visible on the nice picture. Both are coming in the popular scale and might be a great choice for your next build. Packaging is typical for this brand, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Kajika in the same scale.

We are going to start with the lower section of the hull. It is good to get this part as single-piece element.

Main deck is also designed as single-piece part which will be inserted into the hull.

As you remember, we actually get two kits in one box. Both are not young, but still should be interesting to build.

It is surprising to see some aircraft included as well. Those are fairly simple in features, but should be fine for this scale.

Overall molding quality looks fine out of the box. Just be careful with thick attachment points, as those might be tricky to work with.

Large hull panels look impressive and deserve careful painting and weathering.

There are several decals sheets. One is dedicated to various flags, while other one carries hull markings. Those might be copied with masks too.

Rear side of the box shows finished model. Assembly manual comes as separate brochure and I show all pages in the video-review.

Today's kit should be available for some time on the market. In my opinion it is a good choice for modelers who would like to build two models in the same scale. Moreover, standard package features a lot of things, so you will definitely have something to work on. It might be also worth checking if there are some aftermarket sets available for fine features on your ship.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS WHICH MADE THIS REVIEW POSSIBLE!

Pros

  • Good molding quality
  • Several kits in one box
  • Nice decals

Cons

  • Not a new plastic
