This article is dedicated to Zvezda 1/48 Yak-9T (4831). As you might remember, the same brand released another version of the Soviet fighter in the same scale. It happened one year ago, and now we have a new one with cannon in between the engine. Previous release looked good for its size, so it will be interesting to see what is offered in today's version. In total there are 229 parts which should assemble into a model with 18cm length. Packaging is typical for Zvezda, so parts are packed into several plastic bags.
By the way, here you can read review with the previous version of this aircraft.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.
We are going to start with one of the biggest frames, where you will find wing parts. Note that ailerons are separate here, but flaps are molded in.
Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin. If you take a careful look, it will be easy to notice that the left side is a bit shorter. This feature will come handy for open cowling version of your aircraft.
Overall molding quality looks great and I didn't find any damage on the parts. Of course, you can also look for some aftermarket parts if you want even more details on your Yak.
Zvezda gives us a chance to build aircraft in-flight position, so that you can place it on the stand. Keep in mind that stand should be bought separately.
Last frame brings us several useful bonuses - engine and pilot figurine. Both are useful in this scale, and some modelers will definitely find a use for them.
Clear frame is packed into separate bag together with decals. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks included.
There is no mention on where decals come from, overall printing quality is nice and should be easy to work with. Marking guide is supplied in form of separate poster.
Rear side of the box will also show you assembled model.
Assembly manual is typical for Zvezda. I show all pages in the video-review.
Another version of Yak-9 looks as good as the previous release one year ago. In my opinion you get a lot of things out of the box, and this kit has a good potential for adding more details. Who knows, maybe aftermarket brands will bring some PE and resin for various areas of the model. Moreover, it is nice to have several assembly options as well as the pilot figurine included.
Thank you for donations which made this review possible!Pros
- Nice molding quality
- Clever parts division
- Two assembly options
- Pilot figurine included
- Good decals
Cons
- No masks for clear parts
