Zvezda 1/35 KAMAZ-43509 (3657)

This time we are going to talk about Zvezda 1/35 KAMAZ-43509 (3657). Kit comes as fresh release from the famous manufacturer and copies racing truck. This vehicle is quite famous for its wins in various competitions and now we can copy it in 1/35 scale. Yes, it is not a mistake, and truck comes in popular military scale instead of more relatable to civil vehicles 1/24. Well, we can treat it as a good thing because a bit of space will be saved. Packaging is typical, all frames come in several bags. There are 275 parts which should assemble into a model with 21cm length. Let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with previous truck kit in the same scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts closer.

We are going to start with large frame which carries frame bars and some of the safety bars. Note that each frame side should be glued out of two halves and has premolded leaf springs.

Safety "cage" should be glued out of separate sections, but there are guiding elements which should help you with alignment.

Next we see parts for the front cab. KAMAZ design allowed Zvezda to separate whole section into several panels.

Front mask features premolded KAMAZ logo. Note that door are molded separately and can be assembled in open position even though manufacturer doesn't mention such option in the manual.

I am glad to see nicely detailed powertrain here. Zvezda doesn't tell us how to open the front cab on this truck, so you might have to think on how to expose all of this stuff.

Premolded features look great and deserve careful painting and weathering. I would also recommend to add some wiring on this engine.

This sprue comes in two pieces. Here you will find front cab seats as well as suspension parts and wheel rims.

Rear section is also a boxy thing which is separated into several panels. Note also wheel fenders molded together with mud guards.

Rear wall will have be installed first on the chassis and then you will add large side panels.

All six wheels will be using vinyl tires. Those parts feature nice tire pattern and some features on the walls, but for even more impressive look I would recommend to get resin aftermarket.

Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag. All parts look great, but there are no masks or templates included in this kit.

Decals sheet is surprisingly wide because it carries whole sections which will be placed on the truck. Such design should make it easier to do a nice paintwork. Note also chrome stickers below.

Marking guide is printed in color and should be easy to understand. I would recommend to find some of the real photos for weathering ideas.

Rear side of the box features pictures of the finished model. Assembly manual is typical for Zvezda and I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great option for those who would like to take a break from all those military kits and build something more interesting. Whole kit offers a lot things out of the box, and this is a good example of how things should be out of the box. The only thing I would like to see in the package - masks or templates for clear parts. It could be also nice to have additional truck numbers, so that we can copy other vehicles as well. :)
