ICM 1/35 Wehrmacht Radio Trucks (DS3509)

This time we are going to talk about ICM 1/35 Wehrmacht Radio Trucks (DS3509). Box is quite heavy and big because inside you will find two German trucks which might come handy for diorama project. Such build doesn't look like beginner's delight, but it is still interesting to see what is actually supplied there. Packaging is typical, sprues come in several bags. There are 315 + 306 parts inside for assembly of two big truck models. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with MiG-25 kit in small scale.

We are going to start with large frame which carries mix of various parts. Yes, both trucks feature engines, so it might be a good idea to expose them somehow.

Thin parts should be easy to handle, just be sure to have the right tools.

There are a lot of panels to glue, so make sure you will track their alignment. Molding quality looks fine.

Both vehicles are radio trucks, so they are quite boxy, and there are not that many curves in the exterior.

It is good to see roadwheels out of plastic, as such parts will be easier to work with.

Note that rear section has separate doors, what should make the whole project a bit more suitable for diorama.

External features look fine and all clear parts will be actually copied with clear elements.

It would be a wise idea to work on interior, as everything inside will be visible through relatively large windows.

Truck internals will also get due attention. The only question is how to expose drivetrain and suspension.

I would also recommend to play with weathering on both cabs. These are wooden textures, so there is plenty to copy.

Last grey plastic sprue carries some external panels as well as wheel fenders.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag in order to avoid scratches. Note that masks are not included. Decals sheets are not that big, but feature all necessary symbols.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

Today's kit comes as interesting combo for modelers who would like to work on 1/35 trucks. Just add some figures and base for quite good diorama project. The only thing that I can remind of - such models are definitely not for beginners, so be sure to have the right skills and knowledge. Of course, both trucks have good potential for superdetailing, and I guess some modelers will be happy to work on this.
