Eduard 1/48 Spitfire F Mk.IX Weekend (84175)

This review is dedicated to Eduard 1/48 Spitfire F Mk.IX Weekend (84175). Name says it all - we get a new boxing of the famous British fighter in popular scale. I guess there is no need to present this aircraft to you. Eduard plastic is also quite famous and can be considered as one of the best. Today's boxing should give us a chance to build Spitfire for a little less money. Packaging is typical here and all frames are separated into several plastic bags. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another British aircraft - Tempest.

You can help us get the new camera - just press "Donate" button on the right panel.

We are going to start with big frames first. Here you can see mostly external elements, some of them are given in several versions.

Cockpit should be assembled out of several parts. Don't forget that you can completely replace it with Brassin set.

Both fuselage halves are molded with tail fin. Top cowling panel is separate and should be glued out of two halves.

Last sprue carries wing parts. As you can notice, flaps are molded in, so you will have to buy a special PE set in order to copy them in dropped position.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks fine, but there are no masks included.

Two decal sheets are printed in Eduard, so you don't have to worry about their quality. You can see all four markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New aircraft kit should be already available for purchase. In one box you will get a great plastic with nice decals. In my opinion even out-of-the-box build should look great and that will attract some modelers. In case that's not enough, you can get one of many additional accessory sets from the same brand. These might cost extra, but they also bring amazing features to your model.
Get this and other kits on Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals
  • Huge choice of accessories

Cons

  • No masks or templates
