Today we are going to talk about Trumpeter 1/72 Pz.Kpfw.VIII Maus (07446). This is a small scale release from the famous Chinese brand. As you can notice, plastic copies big German tank which should have impressive size even in such scale. Well, this is a new model, so it should be interesting to see what is included inside. Packaging is typical, each sprue comes in separate plastic bag. Let's open them and take a closer look.

We are going to start with suspension parts. As you can note, wheel bogies are molded together, what should make installation easier. Drive sprockets are also different because there is only one section with teeth.

Мы начнём с деталей подвески. Вы можете заметить, что катки отлиты заодно, что упростит сборку. Ведущие также необычные, так как есть только одна секция с зубцами.

Rear fuel drum should be glued out of several parts. Main barrel comes as single-piece element and looks nice for such scale.

Топливный бак собирается из двух половин. Ствол орудия цельный и выглядит отлично.

I like what we get on the turret. This is one of the biggest parts in the kit and Trumpeter decided to add as many features as they could. Moreover, there are separate hatches which might be handy for figures placement.

Мне нравится, что мы получаем на башне. Это одна из самых крупных деталей в наборе и Трумпетер решил добавить как можно больше нюансов. Более того, отдельные люки пригодятся для размещения фигурок.

Main hull should be glued out of two halves. You can check dry fitment in our video-review. Top cover features premolded hatches which can't be opened.

Корпус собирается из двух половин. Вы можете рассмотреть их стыковку в видео-обзоре. Верхняя часть корпуса даётся с влитыми люками, которые открыть не получится.

Tracks come in interesting design, because they are molded together with drivetrain parts. Such design should make assembly easier and faster. I think nobody will argue that such thing is better than vinyl parts. Nevertheless, inner side of plastic tracks is not as feature-rich as it could be.

Траки отлиты в интересном дизайне, так как они поставляются вместе с подвеской. Подобный дизайн будет проще в установке. Я думаю, что мало кто поспорит об удобстве такой детали по сравнению с виниловыми. Тем не менее, внутренняя сторона траков не так проработана как хотелось бы.

Today's kit should be already available for purchase. I am quite surprised with what we get for relatively accessible price - nice molding quality together with good details and clever model design. It means that new kit will be interesting for experienced modelers as well as for beginners. The only thing you might spend some time - painting suspension parts. Well, deciding on which camouflage to pick will be also difficult. :D

Сегодняшний набор уже доступен в продаже. Меня удивило, что за довольно разумную цену вы получите аккуратное качество литья, хорошую проработку и продуманный дизайн. Это означает, что новинка будет интересна как для опытных, так и для начинающих моделистов. Единственное, на что потратится достаточно времени - окраска ходовой части. Выбор камуфляжа также будет непростым. :)
