Tamiya 1/35 M24 Chaffee (35391)

This time we are going to talk about Tamiya 1/35 M24 Chaffee (35391). Kit comes as new-tooled plastic from the famous brand. It is molded in popular scale and should be interesting for modelers who would like to have their own copy. It is interesting that kit also includes some PE parts for fine features. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, so all frames are enclosed into separate plastic bags. Let's open them all and take a closer look at parts.
By the way, here you can read review with Panzer in the same scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer. Don't forget that all photos below are clickable.

First frame is dedicated to machine guns which will be installed on the turret. Barrel is molded separately, what might help in replacing it with metal accessory.

This frame comes in two pieces. Here you will get roadwheels and plastic track lengths. Both look fine and should be easier to work with in comparison with vinyl analogues.

Next sprue brings some of the hull and turret panels. Figurines are divided by vertical axis, so you will have to be extra careful while joining them together.

Some of the hatches are molded separately, what might be handy for build ideas. Keep in mind that figures will be placed in the turret.

Top hull section looks fine and will have to be combined with separate sidewalls. Here you can also notice pioneer tools which are molded together with clamps.

Lower hull section comes in similar design - several panels which should be glued together. Don't worry, there are guiding elements which should help you with proper alignment of those.

Vinyl polycaps will be used for drive sprockets. Small PE fret features only one part which will be shaped with help of special jig included in the kit.

Clear frame is not that big, but you will get all necessary parts for your build. Overall molding quality looks great. Keep in mind that there are no masks for those included.

Decals sheet is not that big, and you get all necessary symbols for several marking options. All of them can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New tank should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to build the copy of the famous Chaffee. Overall quality looks nice straight out of the box, and there shouldn't be any issues in getting all parts together. Moreover, it is nice to have two tankmen and even some PE parts included in standard package.
Thank you for your help in getting this kit.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals
  • PE included, but only one part

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
