ICM 1/48 B-26K Counter Invader Early (48278)

This time we are going to review ICM 1/48 B-26K Counter Invader Early (48278). New version comes as yet another addition to the line of big aircraft models from the famous model manufacturer. Previous releases looked good, so it should be interesting to see what has changed in this one. Packaging is typical for the brand, sprues are divided into two plastic bags. There are 245 parts in total which should assemble into a model with 447mm wingspan. Let's open all parts and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with previous version of the Counter Invader.

We are going to start with the small frame which comes in four pieces. Here you will need rocket launchers, two for each side of the wing.

These wing halves will be needed for Counter Invader version. Note also one-piece propellers which should be easy to install on your model.

Front cowling sections are molded as single-piece elements, so it might be possible to leave one unglued and remove it in order to show the engine.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with the tail fin, but without rudder. I would recommend to replace landing gear wheels if you would like to get a more realistic result.

Tailwings are glued out of two halves, elevators are separate. Attachment points are placed on the leading edge.

Each pylon should be glued out of two halves. There are special recessed slots on the wing, so installation should be quick.

Nose section will have to be glued out of several panels, so pay attention to their fitment.

This sprue comes in two pieces. Here you will find engine parts, ICM gives us a chance to copy both engines, and it might be a wise idea to open one of them.

These wing parts won't be needed as they are intended for a different version.

I would recommend to use some metal rod in order to have a good support for both wings.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag in order to avoid unnecessary scratches. Molding quality looks great and ICM provides masks templates for better paintwork on your model.

Kit features two decals sheets. Both are printed in nice quality and should be easy to work with. Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

Big Counter Invader should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for those modelers who somehow missed first releases of this aircraft. Moreover, package features all necessary things, so you should be able to build a nice project. There is also some aftermarket available already, so you can spend even more. This is definitely not a beginners model, but experienced modelers will have fun working on such kit.
