Eduard 1/48 Fw 190A-8/R2 Weekend (84114)

Today we are going to talk about Eduard 1/48 Fw 190A-8/R2 Weekend (84114). This is a new release from the famous Czech manufacturer. It comes as a more accessible version with the latest plastic inside. Well, such option might be interesting for modelers who would like to build a copy of the well-known German aircraft, but they don't need extra things. Packaging is typical here, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Limited Edition kit.

Watch this video-review where I show parts closer.

We are going to start with one of the biggest frames in this kit. Here you will find various external parts, some in two versions.

Kit also features two cockpit bases in opposite corners of the next frame. Engine will be copied with simple insert, but you can also buy a Brassin kit for a fully-detailed powerplant.

Various minor elements come on the third sprue. Don't be frightened by the amount of small parts - these should be easy to work with thanks to clever design of the whole kit.

Wing parts division is typical. Ailerons are separate, but flaps are molded in, so you will have to buy separate PE set for a dropped flaps version.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin. Inside you will find guiding elements for easier alignment of parts between each other.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag in order to avoid possible scratches. Molding quality looks great, but masks are not included because we have a Weekend kit here.

Both decals sheets are printed in Eduard. Printing quality looks great, and we even get some cockpit decals here. You can see all markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New aircraft kit should be already available for purchase. In one box you will get a decent plastic with nice decals. In my opinion even the out-of-the-box version should look great in the finished state. Nevertheless, you can also buy a separate PE and Brassin sets which will add more features to this model. Some of them are quite amazing in terms of details, so definitely check them out.
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Great decals

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
