Hobby Design 1/12 Suzuki RGV-Gamma (XR79) Detail-Up Set (HD02-0479)

In this article I will tell you more about Hobby Design 1/12 Suzuki RGV-Gamma (XR79) Detail-Up Set (HD02-0479). Kit comes as a useful add-on for your motorcycle build in popular scale. Overall idea is quite straightforward - take some metal parts and install them all around the plastic kit. While original set can be bought with Beemax upgrade, today's kit is way superior in terms of what you will get for the price. Packaging is typical here, so let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with original bike kit.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First we see PE frets, and there are a lot of them Here you can see three metal-coloured with various parts for the wheel and frame.

Clutch will have to be assembled out of separate parts too, and here you can see all separate circles for your clutch. PE fret mesh should be useful for air intakes on the motorcycle.

Drive chain will have to be assembled out of several part types. This process will definitely take some time, so be sure to have the right tools to work with such thing.

Hobby Design also includes three sets of 3D-printed parts, I think there are some spare ones provided as well. Nevertheless, it is still recommended to think twice on how not to lose any of those elements.

More metal parts come in the separate plastic bags. It will be important to see if you can actually leave those in original color or have to repaint them.

I am even more worried about all those small metal rivets. You can see the size in comparison with my fingers, so it will be quite a challenge to work with those. Moreover, there are even tiny springs for exhaust provided as well.

Last bag carries some resin parts for your bike. Assembly manual is shown below, but you can check all pages in the video-review.

New upgrade kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting choice for modelers who would like to get more than what is offered in standard plastic. Amount of features provided by Hobby Design is crazy, but it will require plenty of work as well. In my opinion this is an experienced-modeller-only product, and it might be tedious in some areas. Nevertheless, if you have the necessary tools and previous experience, then it is definitely worth trying to upgrade your motorcycle.
Get this and other sets in any good models shop.

Pros

  • Great attention to small features

  • Change should be noticeable on the model
