Meng 1/9 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (MT-007)

In this article we are going to talk about Meng 1/9 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (MT-007). New bike kit comes as a new-tool set from the famous manufacturer. I reviewed the previous releases, and it will be interesting to see what is offered in today's one. It is important to say that the previous kits offered quite generous packaging and copied a lot of things. As for the real prototype, I guess the famous Ninja doesn't require extra introduction, even though its special styling is definitely not up to everyone taste. Overall packaging is typical for Meng, so frames are separated into several bags. Box is quite large, and assembled model will be 232mm long. Let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another motorcycle kit from the same brand.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame carries exhaust parts and airbox sections. Molding quality looks fine and should be easy to work with.

Next we see exhaust stack which should be quick to glue together thanks to sections division. It might be also a good idea to paint those in advance.

Wheel fenders are molded separately. Be sure to decide on your marking in advance, as it will save you a bit of time painting those parts.

Exhaust silencer is also assembled out of several sections. In my opinion the stock item looks way off on the motorcycle, so it might be a good idea to replace it with something more suitable.

Vinyl seat parts come in the separate plastic bag. Overall quality looks fine, those are typical for big bikes from Meng.

Next ones are interesting, because here we get various external panels. I like that they are divided in exactly the same way as on the real bike.

Front mask is also a one-piece thing which should be way easier to install on the model. Moreover, you won't have any weird seams and gaps in such a visible area.

All panels will be fixed in place with help of screws, so follow instructions carefully in order not to miss something.

Rearview mirrors can be found on the next frame. Again, those items can be replaced with something scratchbuild for even more impressive look.

Radiator panels are molded as single-piece parts, so you just need to get them in the right place. Note also drive sprocket here which should be combined with chain on the photo below.

There are two chain lengths which will be glued together. Both parts feature guiding elements for easier build.

Just like in the previous kits, Meng didn't skip on any mechanical features of the real bike. I recommend to get some reference photos in order to understand how to better paint your kit.

Leg stands come in form complex-shaped parts on the separate frame.

Frame and rear swingarm should be glued out of two halves. Both have generous external features and will be painted in different way depending on the marking you will choose for your project.

Clear parts come packed separately. Note also that those are combined together with clear colored plastic. There are no masks for transparent parts in the kit.

Stock wheel rims look way too simple in my opinion. Let's hope there will be decent aftermarket for this kit.

Here you can see some other external panels for today's Kawasaki.

Engine cover comes on its own frame.

Here is another example of combined molding between different plastic colors.

Front fork will be assembled almost in the similar way as the real thing. This will give you a moveable construction on the finished model.

Engine is a kit on its own here, so take your time while building this powerplant. It might be worth also experimenting with more fine features with help of metal wire.

Last grey frame carries minor external panels.

Meng also supplies handy screws case, which will help you keep everything clean and tidy. Well, the only thing is that you have to sort screws by yourself.

Yes, they come in the separate plastic bag, and you better not lose any of those.

As any other motorcycle kit, today's Kawasaki also packs length of vinyl wire.

Vinyl tires are also here, in two different sizes. They looks surprisingly good and even features surface details on the tire walls.

Small screwdriver is a must-have for the assembly.

Metal springs will be used for the front and rear suspension.

Just like in the previous big scale motorcycles, Meng supplies metal parts for brake rotors. Those look impressive and definitely would make your model even more impressive.

PE parts are also here, but there are not that many of them. Chrome stickers will be used for rearview mirrors.

There is no mention on where decals were printed, but overall quality looks fine. One sheet carries symbols for three options, and you can see two of them on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is another large-scale masterpiece from Meng. There is no surprise that it was sold out almost immediately in models shop near me, so be sure to hurry if you want one. I have no doubt that even standard build will give you a great experience, and professional modelers will be able to play with adding more features if they would like to. :)
