Zvezda 1/72 I-16 Type 5 (7330)

This article will tell you more about Zvezda 1/72 I-16 Type 5 (7330). New release comes as new-tooled plastic in smaller scale. I already reviewed the kit in 1/48 scale, so it will be interesting how the new version is designed and what has changed. Overall packaging is typical, so all frames are sealed into a plastic bag. There are 76 parts which should assemble into a model with 8.3cm length. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.

All parts fit onto two grey frames, and here you can see the first one with lower wing half and some other fuselage panels.

Kit also features pilot figurine which might be handy for a bit more interesting look. Moreover, it is quite a rare bonus in this scale.

Fuselage halves and two versions of the top wing halves can be found on the next frame. Here you also get nice engine and cowling.

Top section of the fuselage is molded separately and should give you a nice smooth look once you get everything together. Inside you will also find some modest cockpit features.

Clear frame is packed separately. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks in the kit.

Decals are typical for this brand. Printing quality looks great, and you get all necessary symbols for several options.

Marking guide is printed in color. Rear side of the box also shows pictures of the finished model build.

Assembly manual is black-and-white. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New set should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting pick for all fans of the small scale. Overall quality looks great, and I didn't find any problem on the parts. Moreover, you get several assembly options as well as pilot figurine. Whole assembly shouldn't take a lot of time, so it is more about which marking option you will pick for your build. :)
