Zvezda 1/35 IS-2 UZTM Mod.1944 (3708)

This review will tell you more about Zvezda 1/35 IS-2 UZTM Mod.1944 (3708). New kit comes as new-tool release from the well-known brand. It is molded in popular scale and copies Soviet tank. Note that there is no interior, plastic is focused only on the external features. Overall packaging is typical, so all frames are separated into several bags. In total there are 469 parts which should assemble into a tank with 28.1cm length. This is definitely not a small build, so let's open everything and take a closer look together.

First frame is dedicated to track parts. Plastic tracks are always welcome, but be sure to carefully place those sections so that you have a nice final result.

Kit is full of small parts, and overall parts division looks straightforward. Some of the items might be possible to replace with your own tools and material. For example, folded tarp can be a good candidate for upgrade.

Roadwheels and suspension arms come on the next frame. Surface features look great here and deserve a nice paintwork with weathering.

Floor panel is molded together with some other hull parts. Zvezda also included some bulkheads for extra strength, but there is no interior in this kit.

Top hull section looks great and features decent details. Moreover, plenty of things will be added separately, what can help with paintwork.

Turret is also assembled out of several panels. Be sure to dry-fit all the parts in order to get a proper fitment between them.

Here you can see the main barrel parts. Zvezda supplies muzzle brake as two-piece item, so it might be a good idea to find some metal replacement.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks in the kit.

Decals sheet is not that big, but printing quality looks great.

Marking guide is printed separately in color. There are several options included for this tank.

Rear side of the box also shows pictures of the finished model. Assembly manual is printed in black-and-white format. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New tank set should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for all fans of heavy tanks in large scale. Overall quality looks great straight out of the box, but you should be ready to work on such big build. Moreover, price is also a bit high for what you get in the standard package, but I guess it can be justified because you get the best IS-2 out there. Let's see what aftermarket options will come out, as there are plenty of things to upgrade.
