Revell 1/72 Saab JAS-39C Gripen (03776)

This article will tell you more about Revell 1/72 Saab JAS-39C Gripen (03776). New set is not exactly fresh plastic, and it can be familiar to some of you. It is more of a reissue with updated packaging and might be interesting because it was out of sale for some time. New box design features real photo as the boxart and also some information on the front. There are 110 parts which should assemble into a model with 20.2 cm length. Let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another Gripen version.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame brings us wing parts as well as tail sections. Note that kit features two versions of the engine nozzle, so you can choose the one suitable for your build idea.

External armament comes in separate two frames. Overall design is simple, but it is still good to have those in the box. Yes, you can also replace them with aftermarket, and it will cost you extra money.

Nose section is also assembled out of two halves. Cockpit and nose wheel well are molded as one-piece parts which should be installed inside. Frontal section of air intakes is also designed separately.

Clear parts are packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks included.

There is no mention on where the decals were printed, but overall quality looks fine. As you can notice, the stencils are also included. Rear side of the box features photos of the finished model.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New issue of the famous Gripen should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting choice for those who wanted to have a small copy in their collection. Overall quality looks fine, but plastic still shows its age, and I start to wonder if someone will release their own new-tooled version. From the other point of view, you can be sure that there is plenty of aftermarket available and you can upgrade the build even more. :)
Thank you for your donations which made this review possible!
