ICM 1/48 Do 217M-1 (48274)

In this review we are going to check together the new ICM 1/48 Do 217M-1 (48274). Aircraft set continues line of twin-engine aircraft from the famous brand. It is molded in popular scale, and finished bomber will be quite a build, especially with all the features out of the box. Overall packaging is standard for ICM, so all parts come in one plastic bag. There are 204 parts which should assemble into a model with 399mm wingspan. Sounds like quite a big bird to build, so let's open the box and take a closer look at what's included there.

We are going to start with wing parts. Overall division is classic for this section, but ailerons are molded separately.

Both engine gondolas should include the engines inside, so it might be worth thinking on how to make them removable. Note also interior parts on the same frame here.

Next frame carries some engine parts as well as large propeller and landing gear. Keep in mind that both engines are included in the box.

Some of the hatches are molded separately and can be opened on your model. Kit is full of small parts so don't underestimate it due to large scale.

Both fuselage halves come on the separate frame. There are guiding pins inside which should help you with aligning those two large parts together.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, and those parts will be easy to install on your aircraft.

Next we see another set of the fuselage halves, so be sure to use the right one for your project. Overall design is identical, external features look great.

ICM also give a set of armament for this aircraft. Those can be exposed with help of separate bay doors.

Another clear frame is also coming in the separate plastic bag. I am glad that ICM includes masking templates here as cutting all the stickers by yourself would be a small nightmare.

Decals sheet is not that big, but you will find all necessary symbols here. Printing quality looks great, and all options can be seen on the photo below.

New aircraft should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it looks like a great offer straight out of the box. Manufacturer has managed to pack a lot of features in the standard plastic and you just need to get everything together. Moreover, there is a good potential for upgrades in some areas if you are willing to spend a bit more. Overall quality is nice, but this kit can be recommended to experienced modelers who would know what to do.
