ICM 1/48 Captured Heinkel (48268)

Today I will tell you more about ICM 1/48 Captured Heinkel (48268). As the name suggests, today's version features German bomber in quite unusual markings. One of them can be seen on the boxart. Original kit proved to be a decent thing to build, so it will be interesting to see what is actually supplied here. Packaging is typical for this brand, and all parts come in several bags. In total there are 291 parts which should assemble into a model with 471mm wingspan. Yes, it will be quite big, but let's open all those bags and check parts together.
By the way, here you can read review with another interesting version of this aircraft.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to engine and landing gear parts. Overall division is typical for such elements, but this is cool to see ICM including both engines in the box.

Wings will be supported with large spars, but it might be also good to use some metal bar for extra rigidity. Interior will get a lot of separately molded elements, so be sure to plan the paintwork in advance.

Both fuselage halves come on the next sprue, each is molded with tail fin. External features include recessed panel lines and rivets.

Bombs are also here, whole design is rather classic for this item.

Kit features one more landing gear wheel type together with propeller. Both look fine for the standard build project.

Each wing should be glued out of several parts. Yes, flaps are premolded, what is a bit strange for this size of the model.

ICM supplies quite detailed landing gear, but it might be a good idea to find metal legs for this model. Whole build will have quite noticeable weight, and it is better to have something to support it.

Fuselage panels are molded separately. Such design was needed in order to copy more versions previously.

Last grey sprue comes with wing halves and some mechnisation. Inside you will find guiding elements which should help you with alignment.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag, so there are three bags in the box. On the first frame you can see some of the fuselage windows.

Next we continue with a bit bigger sections, which still look nice out of the box.

Nose area should be glued out of several sections, so take your time in order to get a nice-looking result. Molding quality is just great on all three frames.

Decals sheet is not that big here, but you will find all necessary symbols for two marking options. Printing quality looks fine, I am not sure about colors though - whether they should be so pale. Both markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New Heinkel should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a nice choice for modelers who would like to copy some unusual marking on the famous aircraft. Whole project would be quite big, so be ready for this. Kit quality looks fine, but I would rather recommend it to experienced modelers who will be able to build such big thing. Moreover, there is plenty of aftermarket available on the market, and it can be a good addition for the aircraft.
