Today we are going to check together something unusual - Miniart 1/16 Macedonian Guards Officer (16038). Yes, this is a large scale figurine set from the famous brand. For me it is different as I am used to see 1/35 soldiers from Miniart, but here is a completely different thing. Soldier comes from III century B.C. and can be an interesting project for some modelers. Overall packaging is typical for the brand, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another historical figure from ICM.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.
Parts come on several frames which are interconnected between each other. Overall design is classic for big scale figurine sets. Note that armor is separated into several sections.
Miniart also offers a choice between different facial expressions of the figure. This is quite useful bonus, especially for the big scale build. Carefully join two halves together, and you should be able to get a nice result.
Another portion of sprues come with large shield and some minor equipment elements. It might be worth planning the painting steps, as in some cases parts will be difficult to reach later.
Helmet is also divided into two halves. Such design might be tricky, so be sure to get the smooth joint between the parts.
Handy bonus comes in form of figurine stand. This part is designed as one-piece and molded out of brown plastic.
Decals are coming from Cartograf, and you have separate reminder about this right on the box. Printing quality looks great and should be easy to apply on the figurine.
There is no history note for this officer, only parts map and assembly instructions.
New soldier should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this is a great change from all those common topics we are used to see in various scales. Overall quality looks great and should be fun to build. Moreover, it is nice to have decals for the complex art on the shield. My guess is that Miniart won't stop on this release and we will see more in the near future. :)
